1) What is the life member in ISKCON?

Ancient vedic scriptures explain how a person along with his family can lead a peaceful and successful life. In the Bhagavad Gita the supreme lord says

"what ever you do, whatever you eat ,whatever you offer or give away, and whatever austerities you perform do that o son of kunthi, as an offering to me"-(Bhagavad gita chapter.9 text.27).

To spread this Krishna consciousness to all whether one may be a business man or an employee,the Founder Acharya,His Divine Grace A.C.Bhakthi Vedanta Swami prabhupada has introduced the life membership programme in 1973.The idea of Srila Prabhupada behind this programme is that even if a person may not have an opportunity to serve the Lord directly, he can indirectly serve by donating a part of their income for the service of their lordships sri sri Radha Krishna.Such donation is approved by the sastra as given in Srimad Bhagvatam 8th canto 19th chapter ,37th text as:

"THEREFORE ONE WHO IS IN FULL KNOWLEDGE SHOULD DIVIDE HIS ACCUMLATED WEALTH IN 5 PARTS- FOR RELIGION, FOR REPUTATUION, FOR SENSE GRATIFICATION AND FOR THE MAINTENANCE OF HIS FAMILY MEMBERS.SUCH A PERSON IS HAPPY IN THIS WORLD AND IN THE NEXT".

This yielded good results and lots of people who believe in the spiritual path established a good relationship with iskcon through membership.

What are the benefits that are derived by Contributing to Life Membership?

By becoming Life Member a person is benefited both materially and spiritually.

A Life Member can stay in ISKCON Guest houses along with his family in 700 Centers around the world for 3 days in every Centre every year. Life member has a very good opportunity to participate in the temple programmes such as arathi and kirthan and can also honor free prasadam (Meals).We have nice ISKCON Guest Houses in Major ISKCON Centers like Metropolitan cities, major cities, and prominent pilgrim places. The Life Members can utilize this card while they are on Business trips, holiday trip, Pilgrimage, etc.,More over spiritually there is a Good chance of taking the Association of devotees of Krishna (sadhu sangha).They are invited to participate in different festivals in ISKCON temple. • Distribution of Prasadam.
• Preaching Krishna Consciousness among educated people in The society

HOW TO OBTAIN LIFE MEMBERSHIP CARD?

A Person who desires to become Life Membership shall submit the prescribed application Form .To obtains Life Membership Card the Subscriber has to give two Photos. At the time of issue of membership Card, the ISKCON Centers list will be supplied. If a life member desires to visit any Iskcon centre he must intimate at least 20 days before their arrival, to the centre along with card no. &family details.
